Fishing - back to basic
Some time ago I spotted a little lake that I wanted to try out. The reason I haven't done this before is that this specific lake lacks a good spot to get the boat into the water.
So I decided that it was time to get back to basic... I reduced the gear to a ”minimum” with a few of my best perch jig, four rods, sonar with side scan and down scan, my small inflatable rubber boat and a trolling motor with a big battery and then I was on my way.
After a short hike through the forest with my ”light” packing (only about 130 kg...) it was time to see what this mythical lake had to offer. The sonar showed a lot of bait fish and the fishing was good with quite hungry perch weighing around 0,3-0,7 kg.
What did I think of fishing ”light” geared? You get ridiculously accustomed to all the comfort a boat with some equipment can give and when fishing with only basic equipment you need to anchor, adjust anchor and struggle with a whole lot of things except fishing. But that is not the worst thing, when I was on my way back the battery to the electric motor was empty and I had to row across the whole lake with the small plastic thingies that they call oars. It took 4-ever!
