New members in the pond

We at RoachEye had the opportunity to visit a real fish enthusiast with beautiful koi fish and goldfish. Fortunately for us she wanted to decrease her school of goldfish so we seized the moment to get some new members to our pond.

Big ones

We came home with 14 new and much bigger goldfish than that was already living in our pond. They measured approx. 20-24 cm long and that is quite an achievement considering that our summers are like eight weeks long (read short) and that the water temperature is around 15°C (if we're lucky). The enthusiast also sent a bucket with spawn from last summer. They were impossible to count so we gave up when reaching 30-ish...

Our old fish greeted the newcomers with open fins even though the roach fish seems a bit bewildered over no longer being the largest ones in the group. It didn't take long before they all had joined into a big school of fish cruising around the pond.

Where the little ones went is another story cause they are almost impossible to spot unless they want us to see them.
